This plug-in allows more interactivity between your visitors. Simply put, you can install this plugin on your copy of LinksSQL, and within 5 minutes, be receiving contact emails from your visitors directly from your site (without them even knowing your email). New features include IP blocking (wilcards can also be used), the option to change email format (text or html), IP tracking, variable loops, and more! This new version also boasts a "random string" image, which the user has to enter correctly, before the email is sent. This also helps stop a lot of spamming, which has unfortunately been the case for quite a few people over the years (not with this plugin, but generally with "contact forms"). Version 2.5 also lets you use contact.cgi?LinkOwner=xxxx , which would send the email to the "Email" address found in the glinks_Users table, for that user.
This plugin will allow you to restrict users from using parts of your site, unless they are logged in (great for members sites, or places where you don't want non-members to be able to see). Supports detailed pages, new pages, rantings pages, etc.
This plugin will let your users update their profile automatically. Includes password validation (they have to enter it 2 times), and it should also support pretty much an unlimited number of fields. Please note, it will NOT work in conjunction with Gossamer Community!
The idea of this plugin is to 'catch' bad links before sending the user there, and potentially losing them. This new version is a total rewrite, and makes it easier for you to define what is classed as a 'dead' page, or what should be considered OK (sensible defaults are automatically setup).
This plugin will let you use the Google' API system, so that you can show their search results on your directory! (i.e an option to your users, on your site). Pretty cool tool. Please note, you are limited to 1,000 search queries a day, as this is a new tool offered by Google. Most people wouldn't even use 100 clicks a day, so unless you have a large site, this plugin should be ideal for you. New feature, lets you enable this plugin to be run if no results are found in your directory (i.e a normal search is performed, but if no results are found - it will look for something on Google).
This plugin will let you offer your visitors a BRAND NEW feature. Basically, if a search result can't be found for a particular query they are looking for; then they can enter that keyword in their "User Profile", and then every xx days, they will receive a HTML formatted email, with details on how the search went (and with any results).
This plugin will let you show a 5 digit security code image on your login page. This helps to stop people setting up "robots" to access your site, and submit links - and also stops people abusing your login page. This is only really helpful if you don't have GCommunity installed =) New features include a total rewrite from v1, and dynamic images (instead of statically created ones). It also utilizes different fonts, which make it harder for bots to work around
This plugin gives you a lot more control over how many "changes" (i.e "modifications") a user is permitted to make in a given time. For example, you can set accounts to only be allowed to modify links 5 times - and also have the settings Mins_Between_Modify option, which lets you decide how many minutes a user must wait, before they can modify their next link.
This plugin lets your users suggest updates to listings. This is ideal for sites that work on a "Wiki" style. For example, a DVD review site - where you have information such as Director, Actors, Year made - etc. If one of these fields is missing some data, then someone can suggest an update to it - and then once validated (or rejected) from the admin panel, it will be made available on the listing.
This allows you to put a "thumb up" / "thumb down" image with each listing, to let people vote on what they think. Its a totally separate feature from "votes". This allows people to vote both way for a link (rather than just "liking" it)
This plugin will let you show a random security code image on your signup page. This helps to stop people setting up "robots" to access your site, and submit links - and also stops people abusing your signup page, and creating loads of dud accounts. This is really only any help if you don't have GCommunity installed (as this has a CAPTCHA option) Images are served dynamically (instead of statically created ones). It also utilizes different fonts, which make it harder for bots to work around
